I am the director of Michigan Tech's Great Lakes Research Center and Institute of Computing and Cybersystems, and the William and Gloria Jackson Professor in ECE and CS. I also direct the PRIME Lab. My research areas are pattern recognition and machine learning, signal processing, and sensor fusion.

Prior to my current positions, I was an NSF / CRA Computing Innovation Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University. My mentor was Dr. Anil Jain.

I received my Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Missouri in July, 2010. My advisor was Jim Keller. My dissertation research examined clustering in relational data and ontologies (PDF).
